Hi from the Philippines

Hi guys, I am Ethan Marcus from the Philippines, and I'm 16 years old. Well, like most people I learned about the amazing stories of Easy Company from Band Of Brothers. It's kinda funny that I only watched the series about a week ago, about 11 years since it was released. I was pretty bored and happened to chance upon an old DVD copy in a dusty closet. Ten episodes later I was thoroughly inspired. Normally I would just move on to the next big thing, but then the following nights I felt restless, and probably because my imagination had soared back over 70 years, into the heart of World War 2. I couldn't get it out of my head. I mean, these guys had saved the future that we call our present, by fighting, suffering, and dying along with millions of others who have not been recognized. Without men like them, we would probably not be here, living our lives. I couldn't understand why their story was trapped in my mind when I realized, I just really wanted to say thank you. I found out that many of them had since passed away, including a great man know as Major Winters. However, I know that some of them are still out there. That is why I was very happy when I learned that people continued to honor these men in sites like this. What I really want to do now is to get in contact with these men and show my gratitude,before it's too late. So, if there is anybody out there who could help me to achieve this, I would be very grateful. Thank you guys.

Where in the Philippines are you? I have been there a couple of times. The first time was as a young soldier taking my R&R week from the Vietnam War in 1967. The next time was during a return trip from Vietnam in 2003 with my wife and another couple that we had traveled with. We had an 8hr. layover, so instead of sitting in the airport, we went out, hired a guide, and explored Manila for a time. A lot of changes from when I was there in '67.

Hey, that's great to hear! I'm from Manila, and a lot has changed since 2003 too, haha! Hope you could visit again soon,there a lots of awesome places to see outside the capital. The beaches, the tropical forests and the historical sites are all there. I believe we also have numerous historical sites on the events of World World 2, this time on the Eastern perspective. You; like many others here on this forum, found a passion about something you probably didn't know you had until you watched "Band of Brothers". I was the same way. After I watched it, I was hooked, and my heart has been in it ever since. It started with "Band of Brothers", but over the last few years, it's became a much larger and broader perspective on not just Easy Company, but other Veterans as well. It's truly something I've taken pride in, and it's something I'll never take for granted. Always remember that Freedom was paid with a price.

I hope you succeed in your passion and I hope you get to tell some of the Men "Thank You" like you want too.

Filip, I believe there are now markers and a historical site dedicated to the great Los Banos Raid. It was established on 2005 I believe, during the 60th anniversary of the raid.If I may ask, are you related to someone who was involved in it?

no I am not. I have read about it and saw some documentary on the History Channel, it interests me a lot, I believe this was a very well planned operation and very succesful. Too less attention has been dedicated to it, everyone knows bout Iwo Jima, Saipan, ... but this is also a very interesting topic...
