My Grandparents during WW I

I have had these photos for a while in the computer, and I don't think that I ever posted them. They were taken during the war, in France. It may be interesting to start a topic on family WW I pics, if members have any.

Thanks for posting these. It is hard to believe there is only one surviving vet from WWI. The time slips away so quickly. This too was an amazing generation that made sacrifices and then came home and raised the greatest generation.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful family photos Jacques.
I am not that lucky to own such photos of my ancestors...maybe my grandmother, born in 1914(!) and still alive today has some, but I never saw anything. In those days having your photo taken was still a special occasion!

This is my wife's grandfather , he won the Military Medal in France , he was also at Gallipoli , Anzac Cove 1915. He was a stretcher bearer. He saw many horrors on the battlefield.

My wife told me that he carrying a wounded soldier on a stretcher at the front and a shell exploded and the shrapnel cut to pieces his mate who was on the back of the stretcher and killed him outright.

They also had to shoot their horses before returning to Australia , they couldn't bring them back. That must have been terrible.

So far, I have had no luck in finding other pics. A few years ago I found a photo of my "grandmere", Henriette Maloubier (nee Bonotaux) on the internet, taken in New York during WW I. She was part of a group organizing care packages for soldiers on the front. It was called "Le paquet du soldat". I don't remember where I saw it, and I did not copy it. This is a plea for HELP!!!!
