Photos on the cutting room floor

Postby Marcus Brotherton on 17 Feb 2009 20:33

Penguin just sent me a preview draft of the photo insert for the new book, We Who Are Alive & Remain.

There are 16 pages of photos set for the new book. But we sent in more photos than can be used. To whet your appetite for what's to come in the book ... I've posted a few of the photos that didn't make it at the book's Amazon blog.

See the pictures by typing the book's title into Amazon, "We Who Are Alive and Remain" or follow this link:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/0425227634?tag ... 3RMT4JWMM&

Once on the Amazon page, scroll down the page a way and you'll see them.

Thanks always for your support! We're looking forward to a May 5, 2009 release.

Thanks for sharing those Marcus! I'm so curious now to see what photos did make it to the book, my expectations are high...

Marcus,
Just a quick note on the pictures, that first one of the dead paratrooper, was from a group of pictures that Forrest Guth took with Rod Strohl's camera in Normandy. Not Holland as was stated in the caption.

Thanks for the clarification, Mooch. I'll make the change in the description. Man, this forum is a real resource of information! Much appreciated!

Marcus,
No problem whatsoever. It's an honor to just be able to assist in the smallest of ways. You are serving as a caretaker of these men's memories and that is what is important to me. So this is the least I can do. I have a set of those pictures from Forrest and we sat down at Reading and went over them. He let me know the circumstances and/or names of the folks that were in them.
Really looking forward to the book,
Mooch

Mooch,

Do you have a good quality copy of the photo of Forrest in t-shirt and suspenders, hands on hips near Carentan? I am only asking because I only have the scan from the Way We Were - Michel de Trez book and I'm trying to identify the buildings in the background.

Marcus, amazing photos - thanks for sharing them!

That first picture is incredible, and it's a real shame that Penguin declined to use it. It would have been a great one to include.

Great photos, if they have rejected these it speaks legions for what they must have included !

Thanks for sharing them.
