A reative of this Hero sold his artifacts on Ebay several years ago. I can't remember her name, but an E Co. fan who has attended a few Reunions has several of his items.

Personally, I could never sell those type of items from my Father. They mean much more to me then a few dollars would.

But then again, maybe they were bringing too many hurtful memories to her and she wanted to remove the painful reminders.

I think I would have donated them to some museum before selling them though. Personal preference I guess.

At least a Easy Company fan got some of them and they are in “good hands” with that Fan!

Gunny Mike:

I agree with you.

But, in this instance, the family was selling the artifacts (patches and some assorted insignia) in order to handle mounting medical bills for the Trooper's ailing sister.

Its sad that they have to part with such treasures to pay exorbitant medical bills. But since it is for his sister, I am sure he would be the first to part with them.

Items, even those of such personal importance as these, are after all, merely items acquired during one’s life.

Very well put Gunny Mike.

And I am remiss - THANK YOU for your service to this Great Nation of ours. My Father served in Vietnam as well.

Thanks Gunny Mike. Sadly, my Father was one of the many who did not make it back. His name is etched on panel 19W, Line 126. Not a day goes by that he is not thought of.

Rich,

Please accept my humble apology and sincerest sympathies. I had no way of knowing.

I can see though that his loss was not in vain. His legacy of service to others lives on in you.

For his service, for his sacrifice, for his family, we thank him through you! :salute: :salute:

Gunny Mike -

No need whatsoever for an apology of any kind. It is the ultimate price for freedom that so many have dealt with. My Father left a wonderful mark on the world, and everyone whose lives he touched, in the brief time he was here.

I salute you my friend.

Rich, sorry to hear that your Dad paid the Ultimate Sacrifice in VN and that you had to grow-up without his physical guidance and presence. Please know that the memories of those that didn't make it back are held closely and dearly in the hearts and minds of those of us that did make it Home. I hope the knowledge of this is comforting in some small way. I think of some of my fallen comrades nearly everyday. I'm sure he is remembered by some of his buddies, also.
