Easy Co. in photographs book! (updated: available for order)

Postby Ronald on 09 Jan 2008 19:54

The Men of Easy Company and Genesis Publications are proud to announce their collaboration on a new, signed, limited edition book featuring the unpublished photographs and history of Easy Company,506th PIR, 101st Airborne.

Easy Company, 506th PIR, In Photographs will feature never-before-seen images taken during training in Toccoa, the heroic leap into Normandy, and their remarkable campaigns to the end of the war, with official Easy Company historian Jake Powers providing the text and captions throughout. Also featured are the private photographs, diary extracts, original map markings and official records of Major Richard D Winters, none of which have ever been seen before.

Due to be published in 2008, this title will join a prestigious Genesis catalogue of historical volumes which, to date, have included forewords written by Lord Mountbatten, HRH Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales, and HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

The book's production will use the traditional printing and binding techniques for which Genesis is famed. Each book will be bound by hand using hard-wearing yet luxurious leather to withstand generations of use. The use of heavyweight acid-free paper, finished with gold page edging will protect the high-quality lithographic printing from fade and corrosion over time. The spine will feature gold blocking and hand-tooling, with raised leather bands, designed to the highest standards of fine leather-bound publishing.

"It is a privilege to be working with the men of Easy Company and such a truly remarkable collection of photographs. Genesis books are made to stand the test of time; Easy Company, 506th PIR In Photographs will provide a lasting testament to the heroic and perhaps the most famed Allied company of World War II." - Nick Roylance, Managing Director, Genesis Publications.

All copies in the edition will be individually numbered with multiple signatories.

Would be great if it reveals a lot of new material.....but could just be a leatherbound version of what we already know. But I hope not.

Looks like most of the books from that publisher go for around +/-$436 USD. That would be an extravagent purchase that I'm not sure how I would explain to the Mrs. :tinhat3

Thats pretty steep. I would love to have a chance to take a look at it. All the history in that book would make it hard to resist the purchase.

I collect signed limited books. Keep in mind there is a good possibility they will release what is called a "trade edition"; most small presses usually do.

A trade edition is basically the same book, but without the bells and whistles.
