Thank You Sir

Major Winters,
It is with the utmost respect that I offer my thank you for your service. There is nothing that I can say that approaches the price paid by every combat veteran. The Pastor who ordained me is a Vietnam combat veteran and makes the statement that no one comes back from a combat mission the same. I could conceive the idea as accurate but when I read "Band of Brothers" by Stephen Ambrose and then watched the series I was able to really consider the stark implications of what you all endured as a reality. I would never say that I understand what you experienced because only a combat veteran can fully understand another combat veteran. As a pastor, I have experienced leading and being responsible for others though in a different capacity than you have. Please know that you are a great source of inspiration to me. I read and listen to your interviews every opportunity I encounter. You set a standard for leadership that is exceptional by any comparison. You demonstrated the qualities of character that are found in the truly great leaders. I thank you for a legacy of leadership that is calling other generations to stretch to attain. May God bless you and grant you peace, His "peace that passes understanding."

One of my favorite quotes:
"Only two individuals ever volunteered to die for you: the U.S. Soldier to preserve your freedom, and Jesus Christ to save your soul. Thank them both."

Thank you Major Winters

Respectfully,
Rev. Joseph Cottle
