Major Winter's Decisions

Postby irishlass9934 on Fri Apr 17, 2009 3:45 pm

I was wondering what the top three major watershed decisions Major Winters had to make were. I'm writing a paper about this for school but am not sure where to start. I'm reading Band of Brothers and enjoying it greatly. Any pointers in the right direction?

Hmmmm. . . have you also obtained a copy of Beyond Band of Brothers, the book Maj. Winters authored (with Col. Kingseed)? It might shed some light on which decisions he considered to be of great importance.

You may be able to find a copy of Beyond Band of Brothers at a local or regional library.

I can definately endorse Lmb's suggestion, Beyond Band Of Brothers is an excellant book as is Biggest Brother, the life of Major Dick Winters.

Three turning points i can think of are;

Standing in the middle of the road at Carentan getting the trrops moving on into the village.

Replacing Dike in the middle of a battle.

NOT sending the guys out on a pointless cross river patrol ..that decision could have ended with a court martial !
