Canadian Recruit

Postby Dr. David on 20 Nov 2009 04:32

Greetings :salute:
I'm honoured to join this site dedicated to Major Richard Winters.
Like many others, I am profoundly inspired by this great man, his wisdom, humility and leadership, as I am by his comrades from the Band of Brothers. Their service, sacrifice and brotherhood touches and lives on through us. My Aunt was a field nurse with the 101st Airborne. She went in with their first medical deployment. My Great Uncle was a commander with the Belgium Resistance. He survived the war but most of my European family did not. I have one Uncle from the US who was a radio operator in a B17. My other Uncle was with Infantry and he married the nurse!
This site is a wonderful community.
I wish you all the best!

Welcome Dr. David!

It is also an honor to know of your family history.

I just read your earlier posts from a topic about Mr. Liebgott. Thank you for posting such wealth of information. I just had to reply after reading what happened to Joe after the war, and how you could relate to his story, as do I and many others.

Welcome to the forum David! You are most welcome here, and thank you for your existing contributions.

I lived in Ontario, Canada for 5 years while I was growing up (I moved to Canada just before my 2nd Birthday and came back when I was 7), and absolutely loved it!

I, for one, would love to hear more about all of your families experiences during the war, if you'd be willing to share them with us.

All the best, and I hope that you enjoy your time with us,

Regards,
Nick

Thank you Nick!
I do have another story I would like to share from my Uncle who "flew the hump" in a B17.
I'll post it here in the next couple of days.
Best wishes,
Dr. David
