I enjoyed reading your post about being a den leader. Fifty one years ago my mom was our den mother. I just forgot our cub scout pack. I have remembered it and the guys and their moms ever since. I just went blank. I think we were in 4th grade at Meadowbrook Elementry Ft.Lauderdale Fla when we decided we wanted to be cub scouts. Since mother was the only mom at home and everybody came to or near our house after school anyway. My dear mother volunteered. We went to 6th grade with mom as our den mother. Then we became Boy Scouts. Thats when dad and all the other dads took over. I was in the Boy Scouts until we left Florida and went to Maryland. There just didnt seem to be the interest in scouting in our neighbor hood. We were real close to the D.C. line and there seemed to be problems at night there. Naturally our parents didn't want us walking home etc after dark. I did get the chance at FT C KY years later to be our oldest sons den leader. We had a pack you wouldnt believe.I had 2 assistant den dads and we had a ball. Before it was over we had put those boys through basic and a i t both. I appreciate you bringing back fond memories.....
