Got a message from John. Here is a bit of his e-mail:

The Foley family is not happy with Michael. The letter dated January 2008 looks authentic. The letter dated May 16th 2007 is clearly a fake. And the rest of the objects, except for the one signed photo, are also not from my Father.

That fake May 16th letter is pathetic. And then he posts a photo of what looks to be an authentic Jack Foley letter, which obviously wasn't written by the same person as the first one...

This reminds me of those World's Dumbest Criminals books I read when I was a kid.

John told me the seller, Michael Rosier, contacted him and claimed he got it from a Frenchman.

The salesman in lied on the origin of the lot and he(it) made a false letter.

I shall contact the winner to say that the lot is not any more for sale.
